Due to current unemployment rates, finding a job has become difficult. Some are specifically looking for careers in which they can receive their training online, enabling them to partake in part-time jobs while moving forward with their financial health. If this sounds like you, perhaps you might consider becoming a CNA.

A CNA is a Certified Nursing Assistant. There is not one spot in the US where a CNA cannot find a job! You can work anywhere from a backwater town to a big city and find your skills will be in demand. If you move to a new state, the most you will be required to do is update your certificate.

There are many additional advantages to becoming a CNA. This is a career, not merely a nine-to-five job. Updating your skills, medical and dental benefits – these are benefits offered to CNAs by their employers that are hard to find.

But to get started, rest assured that there are many classes available for you to become a CNA. Some classes are fee-based, some are not – you can go to a school near you – and you can actually complete your training in a relatively short period of time. It can also be done online, at home, in your spare time.

The training class takes about 75 hours to complete. About two-thirds of this training is done in a classroom, the rest is hands-on. At the completion of your training, you will receive a State Board of Nursing form from your instructor.

There are actually five steps which lead to becoming a CNA. The first of these is you will receive a personality assessment. If you are interested in helping people and are willing to sometimes perform repetitive tasks to do so, you are on the right track. You will also be asked if you are willing to take a leadership role in healthcare. This is because patients actually see support staff more often than they see doctors, so they need to be able to communicate with you often. You will need to be supportive, friendly, helpful, and pay close attention to detail.

You will also volunteer as part of your training. While you can express interest in a particular department, you will perform various tasks during your volunteer duties. Your success at the volunteer work will provide a good indication that you have made a good choice of .

The fourth thing you will do is complete the Program. Some of the topics included here will be understanding patient care standards, legal issues, and both your and the patients’ rights and responsibilities. Practical experience with basic medical equipment and daily care procedures is included in this part of the training.

The final step is taking the Exam for CNA certification, and then you will be on your way to a satisfying and lucrative career.
