Due to current unemployment rates, finding a job has become difficult. In order to begin a new career, learning a new skill online has become increasingly popular. Becoming a CNA is one of the job opportunities that fulfills these requirements.

CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant. There are jobs available for CNAs all over the US. From small town to large city, CNAs can find work. The only thing you may have to do after becoming a CNA is update your certification for any new state you move to.

In total, it takes about 75 hours to complete this course. You will spend about one-third of this time in hands-on practical application – the rest is done in the classroom (or online). Your instructor will provide you with a State Board of Nursing form to fill out after you have completed your training.

There are, in total five steps to becoming a CNA. A personality assessment is the first of these. Suitability for nursing includes having an interest in helping people, and the patience to do so. You should also have the desire to become a frontline member of a healthcare facility. As you may well know, patients see assistants and nurses much more often than they do doctors. It is up to you to be supportive, friendly, and helpful and pay attention to detail.

As part of your training, you will volunteer at a local hospital. You may or may not be given a choice of what department you work in. The appropriateness of this job for you will become obvious during this phase of your training.

Completing the is the fourth step. Standards of care, as well as patient rights, and your responsibilities will be indicated. Performing daily care procedures and proper use of medical equipment will also be taught.

The final step is taking the Exam for CNA certification, and then you will be on your way to a satisfying and lucrative career.
